A to Z Challenge: K

Hello Everyone,

On my list of places I want to visit is South Korea. Despite the problems it has had with the North, It is a truly unique country with so many interesting things to see and do.

The star sight to see is the Paektu Mountain, an active volcano between North Korea and China. There is a lake atop the mountain called Lake Heaven in the caldera of the mountain. It looks like a glorious place to spend in quiet contemplation. And take pictures. Lots and lots of pictures.

A to Z Challenge: E

Hello Everyone,

Although it perhaps wouldn't be the best place to go to right at the moment, somewhere I always want to try and make it to is Egypt.

The pyramids, the Sphinx and learning about one of the greatest and oldest cultures in the world is a fascinating venture. I know a little from reading in books, but to actually see where this history took place would be amazing. Learning through seeing would mean that you would absorb so much more than simply seeing it on the page. Passing by the Red Sea and the River Nile would also be pretty cool, and I would love to ride a camel.

My parents also went on a trip to Egypt, before they had me. They look so young and carefree, and I want to experience that, and to go somewhere that they went would mean a lot to me.

A to Z Challenge: D-Day

Hello Everyone,

Its D-day, and today class we're going to learn about Denmark.

I want to visit Denmark because there is so much history in its land. Literary history is particularly prevalent there. A little story about the prince of Denmark's reaction to the murder of his father, you may have heard of it, Hamlet? The Little Mermaid also is thought to have taken place in Denmark, as Hans Christian Anderson, the writer/collector of the fairy tales like the Snow Queen, Thumbelina and The Emperor's New Clothes also hails from there. As an English student, I would love to see around where a literary hero lived and walked.

A to Z Challenge: Oh I do like to be beside the C-side....

Hello Everyone,

Its time to consider C, and where I am going today for the A to Z Challenge. And the dial lands on... China.

Now, a lot of places I want to visit are based on the fact that I know someone from there, or someone I know visited it and recommended it. This time it is the latter, and surprise surprise, it was my Dad. He goes to China for his work, and every time he comes back with all these stories about the things he did and saw, and I want to do and see these things too.

China made it onto my list because it is a completely different culture from anything else in the world. There are so many sights to see: the Great Wall of China, the Terracotta Army, the Palaces, and of course baby pandas. Cuteness personified. All the authentic Chinese food sounds lovely too. I might just go on a ride down the Li River too. There are so many things to do, a backpacking student would be in absolute heaven, and they don't even need to leave that one country.

A to Z Challenge: B is for....

Hello Everyone,

The second day of the A-Z Challenge has come, and I am Busy considering the Bahamas on my Blog (haha, I'm hilarious aren't I?).

The Bahamas are a cluster of Islands off the coast of Florida. There are about 30 inhabited islands, but there are 700 islands altogether. You could do an entire holiday or travelling there. A romantic getaway, spa trip, whatever you want, its gonna look gorgeous. Even if you love history and sightseeing, you can do something under those umbrellas.

It looks like Paradise to me. You can go snorkeling, deep sea diving and rock-climbing. I may not seem like it all the time, but I do love being active and trying out new activities. Although I do have one main consideration: I must be able to take pictures. I have gotten better at doing it while things are moving and having quick reactions to snap the instant reactions or things I'm doing.

Any way, one of my top places to visit would be the Bahamas, definitely for about a month or so, just to get in the perfect amount of sightseeing, outdoor activities and relaxing on the beaches of Paradise.

A-Z Challenge: A

Hello Everyone,

Today is the first day of the A-Z Challenge 2015. I am going to be bogging for 26 days out of April's 30, with Sundays off for good behaviour. My theme this year is Places I want to Travel to (check out my the theme reveal here).

Today's letter is A, and the country is Australia. I want to visit Australia for personal reasons. One of my oldest friends moved there about a year and a half ago, and I'm pretty keen to see him again. He lives in Adelaide (another A) in the south. Lots of pretty beaches and sun for me to relax in, along with beach-side bars too.

I also have family elsewhere in Australia, so visiting them would be fun too. Of course there is also Sydney and all that entails to see the Opera House etc.

Another reason to see Australia is a little island off the coast of Australia called Tasmania. One, I want to see a Tasmanian Devil. So if not in Tasmania, where else am I going to see one? Two, I want to see my Dad's old stomping ground of George Town, a tiny little town in the north of the island where he lived for a few years. It also has some pretty nice hiking trails.

So Australia is on my A-Z list to visit.

Liebster Award

Hello Everyone,

I have been nominated by the lovely Seat 31d for the Liebster Award. Thank you for that. For people who don't know what this is, it is for new bloggers who don't have many followers to help them gain recognition. I have a list of questions set by Seat 31d to answer, and then I will nominate other bloggers, and set my own questions for them to answer. The bloggers I nominate can answer my questions and set 10-15 questions for the 5-10 bloggers they nominate too.

1. Would you rather be able to Instagram but never Tweet or Tweet but never Instagram?
I think I would rather Instagram but never tweet. I love my selfies too much. And with my exchange year, I want to be able to share my pictures of what I'm doing.

2. Where do you want to be in five years time?
Wow, this is going to be a deep one. I would love to be working in a magazine, or perhaps a newspaper. However, if life shows me a different path, I'm not going to deny it. I would want to still be blogging, perhaps with this blog, or another version of this blog (more on this later this week).

3. What's the most recent book that you've read?
I just finished the end of a series called Girl in a Box, with its 10th book titled Limitless.I really enjoyed it. It has a pretty cool anti-heroine, who has all the smarts, although she doesn't know it.

4. If you were given one million pounds tomorrow, what would you spend it on?
Honestly, just because it has been on my mind so much, I would probably buy a 2 bed flat in Aberdeen for next year. And the rest of it I would save (oh, such a risk taker aren't I?). Apart from buying as many books as I want from Waterstones of course.

5. What would your perfect day consist of?
Today, it would include a day where I have no work to do. Aside from that I don't really mind. Spending time with everyone I love would have to on that list too. And good food. And a book. Okay, I do mind a little.

6. What is your favourite blog post that you have written?

My favourite blog post that I have written would have to be my post on Sex. It was such an interesting way to go, and a completely kind of post. I have always enjoyed writing about probing subjects that touch people emotionally in some way, and it was back to that sort of thing.

7. What is your favourite post that you have read on someone else's blog?

I read so many posts from different bloggers, my one favourite post is hard to decide. I really enjoyed this recent post by Olivia Cheryl, and this one about wearing make-up by Zoe London, and another about blogging itself by Jennypurr. These perhaps would be my favourites, but its so difficult when you are reading daily updates.

8. What is the biggest life lesson you have learned and who was it from?

The biggest life lesson I have learned was the harder I work, the luckier I get. A lot of what I have done could be put down to luck, but I believe it is how I work, and being myself that clinches it. If I am asked to do something, I will do it with maturity and hard work. This was put to me in many different forms throughout my life from my Mum, Dad and others. However, it was especially put to me by my Uncle Dave in exactly those words.

9. If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, which one would you pick?

I think it would have to be Hercules. One story that I remember from being small is getting Hercules on video out of the library (yes, that wasn't so long ago), and I had it out for the week. Apparently I watched about 10 times in the row, taking it out immediately and rewinding it. That's good enough grounds to only watch one movie for the rest of my life I think.

10. What's your most memorable experience of 2015 so far?
My most memorable experience of 2015 so far has to be climbing up a tree on Valentine's Day. It was for photos on my blog, and I thought it was a good idea, but I got stuck up the tree. I had to get some help getting down, but it still makes me smile anyway.

11. What fear would you most like to conquer?

My fear of needles. I would like to give blood one day (if I ever meet the requirements of the NHS), and a fear of needles stands in the way of that. This irrational fear that is completely in my head caused me a lot of problems, and I need to get over it.

I would like to nominate

1. Olivia Cheryl from OlivaCheryl
2. Taylor from Repressing the Crazy
3. Emer from Emer O'Toole
4. Katrin Albert from Katrin Albert
5. BexOoo from The Vegetarian Option

My questions to them are:

1. What TV show are you watching on Netflix at the moment?
2. Coffee or Tea?
3. If you were stuck on a desert island, what three items would you take with you and why?
4. What beauty item can you not live without?
5. How did you start your blog, what was the inspiration?
6. What did you imagine yourself to be doing right now 5 years ago?
7. Describe the best day you've ever had.
8. Where in the world would you most like to travel to and why?
9. What would be your superpower?
10. What is your favourite thing about blogging?
11. What is your greatest achievement to date?
12. What were your dreams when you were small, and how have they changed as you got older?

Comment below with links to your answers, I'd love to read them.

Five on Friday

Hello Everyone,

This week's Five on Friday (hosted by AprilDarciChristina and Natasha) has been inspired by what is happening in my life at the minute. As I am writing this, I have so many cravings for British food, and pretty much no way of getting them. So multiple cups of tea are going to have to do. But I thought I would share with you some of the things I am craving.

  1. As much chocolate as I want (and could) eat at once. At the moment I have two thirds of a sharing Galaxy bar that my mum has sent me (thank you so much). However, I don't want to eat it all at once, as I know I will have more chocolate cravings before I go home, and will need something.
  2. Super noodles. I don't really eat them, but I so want some right now. If I had to say exactly what I want with them, it would have to be some mince a la Gran. So a lovely meal straight from my childhood really.
  3. Strong salt and vinegar crisps. I think I have mentioned this before, as I am always in the mood for them. As strong as you can get them, almost sweating from the vinegar.
  4. Vinegar. The canteen hall here has started to serve battered fish, which reminds me a little of fish fingers in their texture, and of course they always serve fries, so I can have some fish and chips. However, it will never be even close to fish and chips out of the chippy (or mum's kitchen) when there isn't any chip shop vinegar to go with them. Anyone can verify that I love my vinegar and when its missing it just isn't the same.
  5. Pretty much anything that comes out of my mum's kitchen. At the moment I would probably eat an omelette if my mum had made it. Although what I am really missing is one of her curries, or her Thai fish dish. Although I would be happy with just a whole cake as well, so I'm easy really.

These are a Few of my Favourite Things

Hello Everyone,

This Tuesday I am doing something slightly different. I am taking part in a holiday link up party hosted by A Liz AdventuresCheers Y'allMiss Dixie and Southern Style to help us, and you, get on top of Christmas shopping and planning. This week is all about me, and what I want for Christmas.

Dr Martins
This style has grown on me. Having not believed that they would suit me until I went into the shop to try a pair on, I now have made it my mission to own a pair. However, I'm not entirely sure what style I want to go for, or colour. So here's three very different pairs for you to decide. Let me know what pair you like the best in the comments below.
Source
These cherry red Dr Martins are a twist on the classic black combat boots in the Dr Martin collection. Perfect for anyone wanting to stand out this Christmas.
Price: £100 from the website (click above to go straight there) and free delivery to within the UK.

These are heels with a difference. These Sadie Boots are perfect for a girly-girl with a bit on an edge. Pair these with a leather jacket and a skater dress and you're ready to take on the world.
Price: £130 from the website (click 'Source' above to go straight there) with free delivery to within the UK.

Is it just me that thinks the colour on these boots is fantastic. Rather than the traditional leather, suede with a distressed metallic effect has been used. I think it looks amazing, not something you really see around.
Price: £90 from the website (Source link above) and free delivery from within the UK

Heroes of Olympus: The Blood of Olympus
Source
The new Rick Riordan book is out, and I can't wait to read it. The final book in the Heroes of Olympus book, all sorts of questions are going to be answered: will the heroes beat Octavian and the Roman legion before an all out war between the camps erupts? Is splitting up really the right decision in order to stop Gaia from rising? And most importantly, will Leo ever be able to stop the Argo II from blowing up?
Price: in link above from Amazon Kindle Edition: £5.69, Hardback: £7.00, Paperback: £8.00 (used)

Naked Palette
There are three of these available, but I think if I am to start off, might as well get the original. Neutral shades of eye-shadow for any look, neutral never looked so good.
Price: £37.00

Bloch Foot Wrap

Just another pair of dancing shoes, sort of. It will give me more diversity on the floor and with the style of dances I can do.
Price: £14.95

Exercise Band:

Given my new love of the gym and exercise (and of course dance), these are perfect. I can build up strength with them, and try some new exercises that I have been dying to, but I needed a resistance band in order to do them.
Price: £10.00

I hope you liked my Christmas wishlist, and I will be taking part in next week's link up Stocking Stuffer ideas. Can't wait to see you there.
