Five on Friday

Hello Everyone,

It's time for me to revisit the fun link up Five on Friday, with AprilDarciChristina and Natasha. This one is full of my fun Go Pro pictures that I have taken in the last week.

1.
Although my hand looks pretty weird in this, and I'm not smiling, I really like the naturalness of this photo. I was actually fixing the camera as it had fallen from its spot, and I'm just in the right spot at the right time.
2.
This is me actually posing, and as you can tell, I need to work on making sure the composer and placement in the photo is much more thought through. The sun is slightly too prominent in the photo, drowning out anything close to it in shadow, which is may face in this case. I either needed to be sitting higher, or the camera at a different angle. However, its not the worse photo I have ever taken.

3.
I'm posing pretty hard in this one, but I like the way it turned out more than the last one. It's slightly more thought provoking. What is she looking at? What is she thinking about? What music is she listening to? Unfortunately I can't remember any of the answers. Make up your own.

4.

Just about to try to do some reading in the sun. And posing. With a rather large hat.

5.
And this is not a Go Pro picture, but a picture of a Go Pro. That number is the number of pictures I have on my memory card.

Five on Friday

Hello Everyone,

It's time for Five on Friday, hosted by AprilDarciChristina and Natasha. You should go check these lovely ladies out, I absolutely love reading their blogs.

This week is some attempts of mine to try out photos on my GoPro. You can decide how they turned out.

1.

We came out of our class at the gym on Wednesday to a sight very similar to this, so once I got back to my room, I headed back out, determined to get some photos of the snow in the desert.

2.

Trying my hand at a selfie with the GoPro. Haven't quite got it yet, but getting there. And the scarf I borrowed off my roommate. And yes, it is a Gryffindor scarf. I'm proud of my house okay?!

3.

The little river/pond thing round the back of the dorm. I thought it was pretty with all the snow.

4.

Okay, I cheated a little with this one, but I really like this series of photos. I tried the Time Lapse feature this time, and although they didn't turn out exactly as I expected, I just really love them. And yes, I am doing what you're all thinking. I am dancing in the snow.

5.

Again, I cheated. The lighting isn't quite as good as I would have liked in these ones, but I'm playing Hide and Seek with myself! I think it's cute, and wanted to share it with you.

Five on Friday

Hello Everyone,

This week's Five on Friday (hosted by AprilDarciChristina and Natasha) has been inspired by what is happening in my life at the minute. As I am writing this, I have so many cravings for British food, and pretty much no way of getting them. So multiple cups of tea are going to have to do. But I thought I would share with you some of the things I am craving.

  1. As much chocolate as I want (and could) eat at once. At the moment I have two thirds of a sharing Galaxy bar that my mum has sent me (thank you so much). However, I don't want to eat it all at once, as I know I will have more chocolate cravings before I go home, and will need something.
  2. Super noodles. I don't really eat them, but I so want some right now. If I had to say exactly what I want with them, it would have to be some mince a la Gran. So a lovely meal straight from my childhood really.
  3. Strong salt and vinegar crisps. I think I have mentioned this before, as I am always in the mood for them. As strong as you can get them, almost sweating from the vinegar.
  4. Vinegar. The canteen hall here has started to serve battered fish, which reminds me a little of fish fingers in their texture, and of course they always serve fries, so I can have some fish and chips. However, it will never be even close to fish and chips out of the chippy (or mum's kitchen) when there isn't any chip shop vinegar to go with them. Anyone can verify that I love my vinegar and when its missing it just isn't the same.
  5. Pretty much anything that comes out of my mum's kitchen. At the moment I would probably eat an omelette if my mum had made it. Although what I am really missing is one of her curries, or her Thai fish dish. Although I would be happy with just a whole cake as well, so I'm easy really.

Five on Friday

Hello Everyone,

Today's Five on Friday (hosted by AprilDarciChristina and Natasha) is my top-five make-up hacks that I've picked up along the way to either make putting on my make-up easier or quicker.

1. Foundation: I'm not one for liquid foundation normally, just powder and concealer. However, some days when I need slightly more coverage, or am going from day to night pretty quickly, I will use it. So, to save me a little time, and reduce the coverage, stopping the 'cakey' look that can happen, when I am putting on my moisturiser, I mix a little of the foundation into it, and then apply with my fingers. I normally use a ratio of about 60:30 of moisturiser to foundation, but if you want more coverage, then you can use more foundation. To blend this out and into my concealer properly, I also use my powder brush (with no powder on it) to quickly blend everything together, and then powder to set.

2. Eye-liner: To create the perfect wing every time that is even on both sides, angle your brush, line pen, what ever you use from the bottom of your nose to your eye, and draw along that line.

3. Nail polish: If your nail polish is getting a little gloopy and dried out, then just add a couple of drops of polish remover to the polish, and mix it up. It will be much thinner and easier to apply again.

4. Lipstick: To keep the colour strong for longer, I blot with a paper tissue twice, reapplying the colour each time. For longer staying power though, lastly I blot again for a third time, with only one layer of the tissue, also dusting with translucent powder. It mattifies the colour and keeps it in place all day.

5. Lipstick: To stop myself from getting lipstick on my teeth, I make an O with my mouth and put my index finger in and slowly pull it out. Problem solved.

Five on Friday

Hello Everyone,

Today is Friday, and I've decided to link back up with the fab girls AprilDarciChristina and Natasha, for Five on Friday. This week I am going to tell you all about my favourite Netflix shows at the moment.

  1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was constantly being told that I had to watch it, and I have finally gotten round to it. Safe to say, I am a convert. I love it, and I love that Alyson Hannigan is so young in it.
  2. Miranda. There's not much more to say really. She's hilariously British. Actually no, she's just hilarious.
  3. Charmed. It is such an old TV show, and the special effects are so bad, but there is a nostalgic feeling to it. I quite like watching TV shows with a little knowledge about what is going to happen in the later series. But not knowing exactly what will happen before that. It's weird, but I like it.
  4. House. Who doesn't love the sarcastic, bitter but brilliant doctor? Hugh Laurie plays it just brilliantly. My favourite bit is when he is explaining to Cameron why he hired her. Because she is pretty. Anyone else get it? If you don't, go watch House again. I can't explain it properly.
  5. Jonathon Creek. If you're outside the UK, you will have no idea what I am talking about. If you are in the UK, you still might not know what I am talking about. But for anyone who loves a juicy 'locked door murder' combined with an unwilling socially awkward detective, then this is the perfect show for you. The banter between Jonathon Creek (Alan Davies) and Maddie Magellan (Caroline Quentin) is superb and gives a lighter side to what can be a pretty gory show.

Five on Friday

Hello Everyone,

It's time for Five on Friday (hosted by the fab girls AprilDarciChristina and Natasha, who you should go and check out, I love reading their blogs). This week is some new looks I am trying out with my make-up.

1.
This is a turquoise liquid liner from Sephora, paired with my new favourite mascara Kate Moss's Idol Eyes Rimmel Collection in Sapphire. I've done a simple cat-eye with the liner, just to make my eyes pop with a bit of colour instead of the usual black. I've left my skin bare because I was having a really good skin day when I was taking these pictures.

2.

This is a plain soft kohl kajal eyeliner in grey by Rimmel, rimming my eyes and the water line. I smudged it to stop it being too harsh a line under my eye. The mascara I used was Clinique's extreme impact mascara in black.

3.

Sorry about the weird angle of this picture, I was just trying out some new features on my camera. This again is a soft kohl kajal eyeliner, but I blended a black one and a white one in the middle to try and make a monochrome look on my eyes. I used the white eyeliner from the inner corner of my eye to the middle, on both the top and bottom of my eyes. Then, on the outer corners of my eyes I used the black one to the middle until it blended nicely with the white in the middle. I used the Clinique mascara on my lashes again.

4.
I didn't use any eyeliner on this look. I just used some No.7 blue eye shadow to cover my lid up to the crease, then I blended a slightly darker 2True eye shadow onto the outside and a little on the bottom lid. On my lashes I used the Kate Moss's Idol Eyes Rimmel Collection in Sapphire.

5.

For this look I used a blue shimmery eyeliner (I can't remember where it came from) to wing out my liner from the top and bottom eye lids. I used my Kate Moss mascara on my lashes again.

Five on Friday

Hello Everyone,

It's time for me to get back the link-up Five on Friday (hosted by AprilDarciChristina and Natasha, go check them out, they're really great). I thought I would share with you some of the new pictures that I will be using to head up my post series, so you know what you will be reading.

1.

This is what you should see on a Monday, along with another image with a motivational quote on it to help you through the week. If you read on, there will also be a Challenge of the Week, a way of getting myself, and you perhaps to look at the world a little differently.

2.
This is the series that will describe all my travels, including my exchange year in the University of New Mexico. Photos, stories and reviews will hopefully become part of this series, as I discover the perils and delights of travelling.

3.

The Weekly Update will keep you up-to-date with all my news and events throughout the week. I will try to post this every week, but if my week has been particularly boring, I won't bother with it. One change with my weekly update is going to be the day I post it on. I used to post this on a Wednesday, but I have now decided to post this on a Sunday instead.

4.

YouTube Playlist of the Week is one series that I love. I am often looking for new songs, or videos to watch on YouTube, and playlists are the best way to do this. I can just put it on in the background while I do other things. So depending on what I have been listening to, I will choose a playlist that best suits the theme.

5.
This is my new blog series. I will try to post every two weeks with a chapter of a book that I have been attempting to write. This is my first attempt at something like this, so please let me know what you think, and what I can improve on. This is by no means exclusive to just the one story, and if it is enjoyed, I may try some other shorter stories throughout the week. But I will need to see how I do with just this one.
